Yamarita

  • 1 pack Sympli Yam Fries
  • 2 eggs
  • 160g all-purpose flour
  • 1 seasoning cube
  • ½ tsp curry powder
  • ¼ tsp thyme
  • ½ tbsp ground pepper
  • Salt to taste

Shrimp Sauce

  • 2 fresh tomatoes
  • 10 fresh red chilli peppers
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 small onion bulb
  • 1 seasoning cube
  • ½ tsp curry powder
  • ¼ tsp thyme
  • 60mL cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Shrimps
  • Salt to taste

Preparation

How to Prepare Yamarita and Shrimp Sauce using Symplinatural Recipes.

Yamarita

Mix flour, pepper and salt in a large bowl; set aside.

In another mixing bowl, break eggs, and add seasoning cubes, curry powder, thyme and salt to taste; set aside.

Cut open one pack of Sympli Yam Fries and place fries in a third mixing bowl or a flat plate. Set aside.

Heat up 500mL vegetable oil in a frying pan.

CAUTION: The oil may bubble and pop out of the fryer. Place only one piece at a time into the hot oil. Fry only moderate amounts of frozen food at a time, making sure to remove freezer burn or any excess ice before cooking. If frozen pieces get stuck together, they should be allowed to defrost slightly and then broken up before inserting into hot oil. DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED WHEN FRYING.

Dip yam fries into the egg mixture one at a time, then into the flour mixture and finally into hot oil. Fry on medium heat until lightly browned and crispy. Lay on a platter lined with paper towel. Repeat the process until all the yam fries have been exhausted.


Shrimp Sauce

Blend tomatoes, chili peppers, red bell pepper, garlic and onions with a blender until a rough purée is formed.

Heat up vegetable oil in a medium sauce pan and add blended purée.

Leave to fry on medium heat for 10 minutes or until oil sits on top of the purée. Then add seasoning cubes, curry powder, thyme and salt to taste. Leave to cook for another 5 minutes, and then turn off heat.

Meanwhile, heat up a skillet and melt butter.

Add shrimps and sauté on medium heat for 3 minutes on one side and another three minutes on the other side.

Afterwards, transfer shrimps to the sauce, stir gently to combine.

Serve side by side with Yamarita.
